Welcome From Local 4182
Thank you for taking the time to visit the official website of the Crowley Professional Fire Fighters Association. Known as Local 4182 the CPFFA represents the line fire personnel that work for the Crowley Fire Department. The purpose of this local is to be the collective voice of these firefighters. In the past L4182 has worked with both the fire department and city administration on issues dealing with salary, benefits, staffing, and equipment needs. Looking towards the future L4182 hopes to continue this open dialogue and maintain the effort of fielding one of the finest fire departments in all of North Texas. Future Outlook

The Executive Board of L4182 is taking a more formal and hands on approach to current and future planning within the City of Crowley. Chief Loftin has engaged in discussions with the E-Board and is open to continued dialogue to formulate a comprehensive outlook on the future of the Crowley Fire Department. E-Board members are taking an active role in meeting with Council members and hope to ensure the elected officials or our great city understand the desires of the Crowley Professional Fire Fighters Association. This is a change from the previous more observatory role the CPFFA has taken and hopefully encourages future dialogue with elected officials. Check back for updates on all meetings the E-board attends for additional information.

Looking Towards The Future

Recently Chief Loftin sat down and discussed some long term planning about the Crowley Fire Department. The CPFFA was included in this discussion and presented with a challenge from Chief Loftin. We are going to be working with Chief Loftin and his designee's to put together a long term plan for staffing within the Crowley Fire Department. This staffing plan will be looking at what needs to be accomplished for the proper number of personnel to be assembled on an emergency incident. This committee will be utilizing NFPA 1710 as a guideline and looking at every possible solution to assemble the necessary number of firefighters on location when the Crowley Fire Department is activiated for an emergency call for service. This is a huge step forward with the CPFFA actually being involved with the future development of the CFD. Prgoress from the committee will be posted as details of the meetings are released. Stay motivated and keep doing your part to further the issues of the CPFFA.

Budget Workshop Has Long Term Implications

After attending the August 18th, 2009 budget workshop, I am excited about the future. Although the overall addition to the fire department is minimal in comparison to past budgets, one main aspect stands out. Fire department administration took the step to introduce NFPA 1710 to the city council. NFPA 1710 compliance has been the desire of L4182 for some time. Now we may see a step towards actual recognition of staffing levels that are inadequate. The process will not be swift, but the council knows that the desire of the department is to attain the levels of staffing that are recommended with NFPA 1710. The upcoming budget although not finalized does appear to take steps in the right direction for this 1710 compliance. We will monitor the future discussions and workshops and work diligently to continue advocating for staffing levels that provide the safest environment for the citizens of Crowley and the members of L4182.
